Principal’s Notes
In addition to going out into the community for public presentations and performances, such as the Dalai Lama visit on Monday this week, we also try to bring community members into the school as guest speakers to enhance students’ experiences and connect curriculum to the “real world.” Ruben Martinez, an Emmy Award-winning journalist and writer, is speaking in Division II Humanities and Spanish classes on Tuesday about his career and the craft of creative writing. Local artist Janet Miller visited Division I Humanities classes last week to talk about the new direction her career has taken, making creative maps that reflect one’s personal experiences through a sense of place.

Check out City High School on Channel 12’s show “The Beat.”

The episode that features City High School is now running and will be aired through mid-October. We will make copies at school to have in our archives and to share with those who don’t have access to cable television.

Honors Candidacy
Students have the opportunity to pursue honors level work and receive honors status in their core classes. Teachers in both Division I and Division II have provided students with information about honors requirements in humanities, science, and math. As part of honors work in some classes, students will participate in honors seminars during Office Hours on certain Wednesdays each month. For more information about honors candidacy, please contact individual teachers or your child’s advisor. All core teachers can be reached by phone between 2:30-4:00 p.m. (except Wednesdays) and from 11:00-noon on Wednesdays. Another way to contact staff is via email (See email list below).
