Congrats to Teacher Sarah Miller for Success with DONORSCHOOSE.ORG
Math Teacher Sarah Miller is starting her first year at City High School right: she recently had success raising funds through donorschoose.org to bring new technology to her classroom. Sarah’s request was for a document camera – a device that projects an image of a 2-dimensional object like a page from a book or a 3 dimensional object like a geometric math manipulative. In Sarah’s pitch to potential donors included the following explanation:
“A document camera allows me to work out problems in real time, facing the class, instead of standing in front of a white board (and perhaps blocking the view for some). It also allows students to showcase their work to the rest of the class without having to copy it all onto the white board. My hope is to make math more accessible and enjoyable for my students.”
This is City High School’s 2nd success story with donorschoose.org, an online charity that now has Oprah Winfrey and Stephen Cobert as its biggest champions. Last year, Sarah Bromer raised funds for new equipment for the radio documentary program.
Congratulations to the Sarahs!
