Summer Opportunities

The freedom of summer can quickly lead to boredom for teenagers, so we have compiled information below about lots of fun, engaging opportunities for youth – many of them happening here at City High School and some happening at various organizations around the community…

VOICES in the CITY!: All current, incoming and graduating City High School students are invited to participate in summer VOICES in the CITY sessions being offered in July. The awesome workshops will include three different sessions of Culinary Arts (Baking, Know Your Cuts of Meat, Vegetable Varieties), designing & painting a mural on the second floor of the school, Sketching 101, Video Game Design,  and more to be announced soon! Click here for more information and to register.

Physics Factory Summer Camp: City High School is pleased to host the phenomenal science and mathematics educational team from the Physics Factory! this summer. They will be holding their summer camp 2012 here on site at our downtown school. The camp, open to youth ages 10 and older, will be here from June 9 – July 20th. The camp will include workshops in Wood Working, Robotics, Catapults, Lasers, Rockets and Electronics. Click here for more information and to register.

Greater Tucson Youth Leadership Program: City High School is also hosting the Youth Leadership Institute this summer. This is a two-week summer program led by Volunteer Southern Arizona and based upon Greater Tucson Leadership’s “issue day” model. Each day youth participants will be exposed to important issues facing our community through exploratory trips and discussions with high-level leaders. Youth will leave with a greater interest in civic engagement, confidence in their leadership abilities, knowledge about the issues that are important to them, and a personal leadership plan. Youth must commit to both weeks and attend all sessions. The fee for the program is $300, which will be waived for 3-5 City High School students. Click here for more information and to register.

CreateIt: – CreateIt is a free media and technology summer camps this June at the branches of the Pima County Library. There are still openings for Advanced Video Camp with Pan Left Productions and several other classes. Click here for more information.

The Art of Summer: The Drawing Studio is offering visual art immersion summer programs for you. The workshops include immersion, drawing, painting, print making, sculpture, and more. Click here for more information.
