Semester 2 VOICES Afterschool Program Launches – Showcase on 1/28

VOICES Afterschool Programs are back for Semester 2, launching an extensive schedule of extended day opportunities beginning this week, all of which are free and open to all students. This programming is made possible through our 21st Century Community Learning grant awarded to CHS last summer.

You can view the updated schedule as a pdf here: VoicesSpringSchedule2016

Most of the classes and workshops from last semester will be carried over, with an expansion of our after school tutoring program and the Dance Club. In addition, we’re excited about some new developments; the STEM Crew Quadcopter Project will be building a drone and recruiting candidates to become pilots-in-training, the expansion of our Farm-to-School program will bring our Culinary Arts class out to the Las Milpitas Farm, and the launch of our Family Wellness Initiative this spring will bring a series of health and wellness events to Thursday Family Nights.  Finally, we will be partnering again with the Sonoran Glass School, Xerocraft, ZUZI Theatre, as well as with Big Read Connects Tucson for a book illustration project based on the work of Edgar Allen Poe.

Block Party 9

Come out to see what our students were up to after school last semester at our annual VOICES Showcase at CHS on Family Night, Thursday, January 28th, 5:30-7pm. There will be live musical performances, slam poetry, farm & game design demos, culinary delights, prom fundraising, and much more.

Please contact VOICES programming coordinator, Tom Moore, if you have any questions or concerns.
