Updates on After School Academic Support Sessions

City High School is committed to supporting all students to reach their academic potential. At times, students require additional, focused time with their teachers or with a tutor to complete classwork and develop skills. Among the many varied after school enrichment activities, the VOICES extended day program includes office hours before and after school as well as tutoring in all subjects after school.

In order to provide more timely and targeted academic support to students we are changing the way we assign required after school office hours. There are two major changes that students and parents need to be aware of:

  • The day for required after school office hours changes from Monday to Tuesday. Required office hours on Tuesdays will begin on February 14 and the sessions will go from 3:00 to 4:15 p.m..
  • Teachers, not Advisors, will be assigning Tuesday after school office hours to students in order to reteach content and skills. Teachers will also assign after school office hours to students who do not turn in major assignments or are inconsistent with completing and turning in homework.

The times for morning office hours for all teachers remains the same: Tuesdays through Fridays from 8:30 to 8:55 a.m. These are optional office hours for students who need extra help or need to get caught up on school work due to an absence.

After school tutoring sessions for all academic subjects continue on Thursdays and Fridays from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.. These are optional help sessions open to all students. However, teachers and administrative staff may be requiring some students to attend these tutoring sessions to help them build up their skills and get caught up on work. For more information on required after school support, please contact Brett Goble, Principal.
