37 Pennington Gets New Display Case Artwork

Through an ongoing partnership with the Sonoran Glass School, students from City High School have completed a new display case project, The Glass Desert, for 37 Pennington, the building also known affectionately as Shoe City.

A dozen students volunteered to participate in several extra curricular glass workshops over the last two years, creating blown, fused and mosaic glass pieces to contribute to the project.

Come see the display for yourself at the Pennington Street Showcase, Friday, April 21st, 3-7pm. Staff from the Sonoran Glass School will be on hand doing demos with a mobile flame-working rig, and we’ll be offering the glass orbs (the previous display) for sale for $10-$20 suggested donation.

Workshops with Sonoran Glass School, and with other community partners, are a part of our VOICES after school program and funded through a 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant.
