Krista Gypton Receives UA Wildcat Writers Award

Congratulations to City High School English Teacher, Krista Gypton, who will be honored with a Wildcat Writers‘ Service Learning Award. Krista will receive the award at the University of Arizona Writing Program’s annual awards ceremony on Thursday, April 27 at 5:00 p.m. at the Arizona History MuseumThe Wildcat Writers’ program connects high school and college writing teachers and students, engaging them in service learning projects within their communities.

This year, Krista was selected to be part of the Wildcat Writers cohort of high school teachers. Krista facilitated exchanges between her students and writing students at the U of A, one of which involved the students surveying their community to identify problems in need of solutions. She also organized the event Big Change, Little City, hosted at the U of A, which brought together a panel of community leaders and activists who seek to ignite and adapt to change in their professional work. The event provided City High School and U of A students an opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue and share ideas about how we navigate change in our lives.
