VOICES After School Program Launches

For the 8th year, the federal 21st Century Community Learning Center grant has supported City High School’s VOICES extended day programs. This free programming is available before and after school every day of the week.

City High School staff and community partners teach academic, artistic, leadership, and wellness skills through a variety of regular tutoring opportunities, enrichment classes, school clubs, and periodic workshops. There is something for everyone. And there are free snacks available after school for all participants.

Student participation leads to new skills and new friends, and attendance in VOICES programs of 30 days or more can earn students off-campus lunch privileges. To join a program, students simply need to come to a class or workshop when they can, though attendance at the first meeting is strongly encouraged.

Free or low-cost special workshops with community partners are coming up this Fall including opportunities with  Ironwood Tree Experience and Sonoran Glass School. Stay tuned for details coming soon!

VOICES also supports our weekly Family Nights on Thursday, 5:30-7:00 p.m., hosted by City High School staff and showcasing student work and performances, Family Association meetings, and fundraising events like our popular annual Chili Cook Off, All Souls Procession Prep Party, Drama Performances, Art Show & Sale, and VOICES Showcase.

This year we are continuing our Family Wellness Initiative, with a variety of health & wellness programming designed specifically for students and adult family members. Enjoy free snacks are provided by our after school Culinary Arts students.

Stay tuned for upcoming Family Nights!
