What’s been happening over the summer at City High School?

Summertime is always a optimal time to get things done. Lots of exciting things have been happening in and around the building the past few weeks:

  • We have a new bell schedule. The schedule was developed to work in more face-to-face time with classes, which is especially important for math and writing.
  • New flooring has been installed on the second floor. Classrooms now have new carpet tiles, and the hallways have the same blue and white marmoleum that was installed on the ground floor a couple years ago.
  • The stairs between the ground and second floors got a fresh new coat of paint.
  • Renovations are finally underway next door at 37 E. Pennington. The roof beams are exposed and the space is well on its way to be ready for use sometime this school year.
  • Last but not least, we’ve hired some new staff members! More about each of them will be posted soon, but we welcome Carina Brokamp, Special Education Inclusion; Taylor Johnson, 9th grade Learning in Community and English 9; Kathy Moore, 9th grade Learning in Community and Biology; and Will Smith, Special Education Inclusion Assistant and Fitness.
