You’re Invited: Day of the Dead Celebration

Leslie’s Spanish classes have been teamed up with Barrio Viejo Elderly Housing and MOCA to dive into the rich culture of Dia de Los Muertos. Students have been making decorations and shrines for the event. This is a beautiful example of what place-based learning looks like.

We invite all families to join us on November 2, 2018, at Barrio Viejo Elderly home where we will be joining our neighbors in a traditional celebration of loved ones passed away. The event begins at 4 pm and most likely will start to wind down at about 7:00-7:30. Please join us for the celebration at 124 W 18th st. Bring your own mementos and photos of a loved one that has passed to add to our City High altar. I’m sure there’ll be lots of extended family and friends of the seniors at the complex. They are delighted that our school is joining them in their celebration. I am hoping that our extended City High School family can come that evening as well.
