Free College and Career Workshops for Families

City High School is partnering with the Metropolitan Education Commission’s Regional College Access Center,  Pima Community College and Arizona Works, to help all families have access to the information, as well as support needed, to best help students with their post-high school options. Workshops will be conducted in both Spanish and English. Childcare available.

COLLEGE APPLICATION/ACCESS WORKSHOP

SEPTEMBER 20th 5:30 – 7:00

Unsure of how you go about applying for college? Think college is not an option for you? This workshop will provide information for all students, from any background or situation, understand what they need to know in order to apply to college. Supply and get help with all the needed paperwork. All attending Seniors will leave having applied to at least one of the in-state colleges.

FAFSA APPLICATION WORKSHOP   

OCTOBER 4TH 5:30 – 7:00

Come to this workshop and you will leave with your FAFSA application for Federal Aid completed! All your questions answered and the support and help you need to get financial aid for college.

PIMA COMMUNITY COLLEGE WORKSHOP

OCTOBER 18th 5:30 – 7:00

This workshop will cover everything you need to know about applying for Pima Community College. The benefits of going to community college as well as funding available for students.

SCHOLARSHIP ESSAY WRITING WORKSHOP

October 25th 5:30 – 7:00

This workshop will help you develop a solid scholarship application essay, as well as where to locate scholarships.

TRADE SCHOOL and APPRENTICESHIP OPTIONS WORKSHOP

 NOVEMBER 29TH 5:30 – 7:00 

Want to get training and head right into a job? Love working with your hands and are curious if you can make a career out of it? Come to this workshop and see what options are out there.

We encourage all Juniors and Seniors to attend the workshops, but all families are welcome. It is never too early to learn what your options are.

Other Important Dates!

Juniors Take the PSAT-Wednesday, 10/24 from 9:00-12:30–All juniors will take the PSAT on Wednesday morning 10/25. The test will last for the better part of the morning and will give students the opportunity to experience a practice version of the SAT, an important college admissions exam.
