New Desert Youth Gardening Elective at Las Milpitas de Cottonwood

We are excited to announce a brand-new Period 6 & 7 elective for the Spring 2018 semester! Desert Youth Gardening will be taught our AmeriCorps Farm to School Specialist Dani Radacosky-Pentoney.

The class will travel down to Las Milpitas de Cottonwood every Tuesday and Friday during Periods 6 and 7 to work on our school’s plots and learn about how to grow food sustainably in our desert environment. Students will get Desert Youth Gardening certification as well as a stipend for participation. The class counts as a Fitness credit. Students will also get to bring home fresh veggies from the garden.

A few spots are still available in the class, but it is filling up fast! If you or your student is interested, contact Annie Holub, Dean of Student Life and School Culture, to discuss a schedule change.
