Pennington Street Showcase, April 13

Join us on Friday, April 13 for the Pennington Street Showcase! This Spring semester showcase event will feature student projects and performances from classes and after school programs from the current year and is hosted by City High School and Paulo Freire Freedom Schools. Join us for this important recognition of what young people can do to make our community a better place.

Please note that City High School will be holding a special schedule on April 13 to accommodate the Pennington Street Showcase. Students are expected to arrive at school no later than 1:30 p.m.. Release time for all students will be at 7:30 p.m.

The Showcase will kick off at 4:00 p.m. with a keynote speaker on the main stage. Four rounds of half-hour student work sessions are to follow. The event will wrap up by 7:00 p.m. with a raffle drawing, a final music performance and food trucks!

Here’s a sneak peek into some of the student learning that will be on display:

  • An interactive, powerful Rubiks cube mural from KC Engelmann and Jessica Melrose‘s Art and Algebra II class
  • Students in Krista Gypton‘s Seed Spot Next Social Entrepreneurship class will pitch their innovative business ideas on solutions to social and environmental problems.
  • Character profiles from the Fantastic Creatures Project by students in Josh Banno‘s Algebra I classes
  • House of the Future scale models from Sean Williams‘ Geometry students.

These and many more exhibitions of student learning will be featured at the Pennington Street Showcase, as well as food trucks, community partner information tables, performances, and other fun activities. Hope to see you there!
