Internship Spotlight: Eddie Holm

Eddie Holm is interning with Professor Betsy Arnold at the University of Arizona in the Arnold Microbiology Lab. He is helping them try to figure out the relationship between fungus and plants. On a typical day, Eddie works to parafilm fungus. This means there are several vials filled with samples from Petri dishes that he wraps parafilm around to prepare for storage. Eddie’s favorite part about working in the lab is getting to interact with the students and professors and learn more about what they are doing. His favorite task was sorting specimens my morphotyping-sorting them by their different characteristics. “For example, if we had a brown fungus we group them with other brown fungi.”  Eddie is heading to the University of Arizona next year to study Oceanography, but, “if I can I would like to keep working in the lab.”
