Principal’s Notes
City High School was busy participating in community events this weekend. We had a booth at the TPAC Family Arts Festival on Sunday that featured chalk making for younger kids. The chalk-making activity was designed to promote the sidewalk chalk art presentation at the festival led by Mural Art Teacher Leia Maahs. Other activities at the booth related to various City Works classes, including a rope-making activity and a demonstration of the BICAS-mobile to provoke conversations about alternative fuels and modes of transportation. On Monday morning a group of City High School students and teachers gathered at the U of A Mall in the early morning chill and marched together in the annual Martin Luther King March from the University of Arizona to Reid Park. Thanks to all of the students, parents, and staff who took part in these special weekend events!

In the Field
On Tuesday, January 17, Division I students will travel to Green Fields Country Day School to participate in the school’s annual event honoring and exploring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King. In an effort to expand the event this year, Green Fields invited City High School students as guest participants. Joining the ninth graders on the trip will be Drama Teacher Charles Schnarr and a group of Division II drama students, who will help lead interactive activities with Schnarr’s Playback Theatre troupe.
Help Plan the “Alley Work Day”
City High Parents, the new PTO-type group started this fall, meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the school. The next meeting is January 17, and the agenda is to plan the Work Day scheduled for Saturday, February 18. This semester’s Work Day will focus on fixing up the alley area; activities to include gardening, painting, and basic carpentry. Volunteers and donations needed to make the Alley Work Day successful!
