Megan Valanidas earned her Bachelor’s degree in Studio Arts and French Linguistics from the University of Arizona.
Megan specializes in photography and 3-D arts. She has worked with youth at Tucson’s Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), BICAS, the Spare Part Art Space (SPAS) and at the Gloo Factory, where she has introduced youth to performance art as well as making do-it-yourself (DIY) books, stamps, stickers and other sundry.
Megan is also an experienced farm hand. She spent two seasons as a full-time intern on a small farm in Scarborough, ME. She is a member of Rooted In Community, a national organization devoted to food systems education in collaboration with youth-oriented farm projects across the country. Megan is currently the co-coordinator of City High’s Urban Farm program that meets every week at the Las Milpitas Community Farm.
She is invested in Tucson’s downtown community and enjoys finding ways to connect youth to their community and vice versa. Megan also enjoys bicycle touring, amateur comedy, hiking, and music. Please feel free to practice your French with her, she will appreciate it as well.
