Tucson Small School Project & Board of Directors

Connecting at the annual TSSP Board and City High staff spring get-together.

The vision of Tucson Small School Project is to transform the educational landscape of southern Arizona and beyond by encouraging innovations that lead to the development of more humane and equitable learning communities for all students and adults in school settings.

Tucson Small School Project (TSSP) is an Arizona non-profit corporation founded in 2002. In its first decade TSSP founders, board members, and staff have focused on:

  1. the launch and oversight of a small, high quality charter school in downtown Tucson: City High School
  2. TSSP Outreach: professional development services that provide training and coaching in the areas of professional learning communities, small school design, and other best practices in school reform

The Arizona State Board for Charter Schools approved TSSP’s charter application for City High School in March 2003 and the school opened with 80 students in September 2004. Today City High School offers grades 9 through 12 and serves approximately 200 students. Information about the school’s educational program can be found throughout our website.

TSSP provides outreach training to schools and educators throughout Arizona on a range of topics; to learn more about the Educator Outreach Program, visit the TSSP Outreach section of this site.

The TSSP Board meets the first Thursday of each month from 3:30-5:00 p.m. at City High School, 48 East Pennington Street in Downtown Tucson. To learn more about the TSSP Board, or to review meeting agendas or minutes, contact Executive Director Carrie Brennan.
