Highly Qualified Teaching Staff

City High School prides itself on its cadre of amazing teachers. 100% of City High School’s teaching staff is “highly qualified” as defined by federal guidelines; this includes teachers and teaching assistants (paraprofessionals).

City High School seeks to be a rigorous learning community for all of its members, including adult staff. Teaching staff participate in a professional development program built into the weekly school schedule. All teaching staff meet monthly in small professional learning communities called Critical Friends Groups. They receive ongoing instruction to improve their practice in areas such as Understanding by Design and Place-Based Learning. Staff are provided with collaborative planning time in order to best meet students’ needs, work together in teaching teams, and integrate curriculum.
