Alumni Profile – Treven Hooker, 2012

Treven Hooker - City High School

Treven Hooker, CHS Class of 2012, PFFS Class of 2008

Treven works for the Arizona Trail Association as an education and outreach coordinator, leading school fieldtrips and taking youth groups into the backcountry. Because of his senior internship in high school, “I found an enjoyment in youth leadership, a passion for the outdoors, and most importantly – a way to combine the two into a career.” After a stint at Pima Community College, Treven decided to focus on certification courses, instead of a traditional degree for now. He lists several certificates on his resume, including all of the Wildland Firefighting Certifications and the NOLS Educator Degree.

Treven looks back. “In a traditional middle school or high school, I do not believe I would have developed the same personal characteristics that I gained at CHS and PFFS. The staff supported me and showed an unwavering belief in who I was and could become – and that made a massive difference in my life.”
