Gateway Exhibition Week
May 27-June 3

Students in grades 9, 11, and 12 will be participating in Gateway Exhibitions during the final days of the school year. For 9th and 11th graders, this is part of the process of graduating from their current division and moving to the next division (Division 1 to 2 or Division 2 to 3). For 12th graders, the exhibition is one of the steps to graduate from City High School. Participation is required of all students.

Graduation

Saturday, May 31, 6:00 p.m

The 2nd annual City High School graduation ceremony will take place in the La Placita plaza. There will be a reception to follow (approximately 7-8 pm).

Watch the Pan Left CityWorks class' videos from the Spring semester on Access Tucson, channel 98 (Cox) or channel 73 (Comcast). Catch all four Global Issues Documentaries on Fridays at 11 pm and Mondays at 9 pm during the month of July.

Read about an innovative dance performance about food produced by NEW ARTiculations Dance Theatre. Two City High School City Works classes were involved in the early creative process of creating the dance. Students and teachers in the Culinary Arts and Community Garden classes participated in workshops with the dancers and generated ideas and movements that the dancers wove into the final performance.

Poet Force

As part of his weekly column, Nintzel commented on the nonviolent and powerful actions that a group of teen girls, including City High students, conducted in response to anti-immigrant hate speech that occurs at Jacome Plaza regularly. The girls, all of whom are involved in the Kore Press Grrrls Literary Activism Project, distributed love poem and silkscreened t-shirts as part of their counter-protest.

Hundreds Turn Out to Honor King in 25th Annual March

City High School had a team of marchers approximately 30 strong in Monday's event. Students, staff, and parents walked together from the U of A to Reid Park to honor Dr. King's legacy. City High School recently received a "MLK Day of Service" grant to focus on service projectsrelated to King's teachings of nonviolence throughout 2008; participation in the Tucson walk was our kick-off activity. State Drive to Curb Teen Drinking Focuses on Parents

Governor Napolitano launched the "Draw the Line" campaign to focus more attention and resources on reducing underage drinking. Student Andres Cano, a member of the Governor's Youth Commission, has been active in this effort and had the honor of introducing the Governor at today's press conference.
