Gateway Exhibition Week
May 27-June 3
Students in grades 9, 11, and 12 will be participating in Gateway Exhibitions during the final days of the school year. For 9th and 11th graders, this is part of the process of graduating from their current division and moving to the next division (Division 1 to 2 or Division 2 to 3). For 12th graders, the exhibition is one of the steps to graduate from City High School. Participation is required of all students.

The 2nd annual City High School graduation ceremony will take place in the La Placita plaza. There will be a reception to follow (approximately 7-8 pm).

Read about an innovative dance performance about food produced by NEW ARTiculations Dance Theatre. Two City High School City Works classes were involved in the early creative process of creating the dance. Students and teachers in the Culinary Arts and Community Garden classes participated in workshops with the dancers and generated ideas and movements that the dancers wove into the final performance.

As part of his weekly column, Nintzel commented on the nonviolent and powerful actions that a group of teen girls, including City High students, conducted in response to anti-immigrant hate speech that occurs at Jacome Plaza regularly. The girls, all of whom are involved in the Kore Press Grrrls Literary Activism Project, distributed love poem and silkscreened t-shirts as part of their counter-protest.
Hundreds Turn Out to Honor King in 25th Annual March

City High School had a team of marchers approximately 30 strong in Monday's event. Students, staff, and parents walked together from the U of A to Reid Park to honor Dr. King's legacy. City High School recently received a "MLK Day of Service" grant to focus on service projectsrelated to King's teachings of nonviolence throughout 2008; participation in the Tucson walk was our kick-off activity.
