Spring 2013 VOICES Workshops

This spring VOICES in the CITY continues with fun and engaging after-school opportunities for the students of City High School. Workshops include tutoring and homework help, cooking class, video game design, urban farming,  and darkroom photography, to name a few. All workshops are free for City High School students.

Check out the details on all of the spring semester VOICES offerings on the City High School website – and use the on-line form to register for workshops. Contact Krista Niles, VOICES Director, with any questions.

There is a new VOICES opportunity this spring, offered in partnership with Kore Press as part of the Grrls Literary Activism Project. Female students are invited to participate in “The Listening Project” and interview and record stories of women war veterans to help create an on-line audio site accessible by millions all over the world. The Listening Project will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays 3:15-5:45pm at City High School, starting February 4 and run through mid-May. Students from various Tucson high schools and the University of Arizona will make up the 4 interview teams. Learn real-world documentary arts and civil discourse skills (ie, the art of the interview, transcribing, radio story-telling, editing, audio engineering, photography); work with scholars and adult mentors in the field. Be a part of this historic moment! City High School students can register for “The Listening Project” using the VOICES on-line registration form for Spring 2013.

VOICES workshops are funded by City High School’s 5-year 21st Century Community Learning Center grant, as well as generous tax credit donations to City High School to enhance our after-school program.
