9th Grade Trip to Tohono O’odham Nation Cultural Center and Museum and Kitt Peak National Observatory, Friday, 11/22

We are very excited to be traveling to Kitt Peak and the Tohono O’odham Nation with our freshman team this year. We developed this trip to enhance our learning about Astronomy and Tohono O’odham culture and border issues in our Big History Project Science/Humanities class as part of City High’s dedication to experience-based learning. This is a unique Tucson opportunity and we want to make sure every freshman student can say that they have looked through a telescope at distant stars! In order to have access to the telescopes after dark, this field trip requires a late start (10:30 am) and late return (approximately 11:30pm) to Tucson.

Here are the details of the trip:

We will leave Friday, November 22nd at 10:30am and return that evening at approximately 11:30pm. Please note: students are expected to be at school at 10:15am. All students will travel to and from Kitt Peak National Observatory and the Tohono O’odham Nation Cultural Center & Museum in a chartered busThe group will return to City High School at approximately 11:30p.m. Please make arrangements for your student to be picked up from school at that time.

Please call or email Kathy Moore, 9th Grade Math and Science Teacher, if you have any questions.
