Taylor Johnson earned a Bachelor of Arts in English in 2001 from The George Washington University in Washington, DC, and a Master of Fine Arts in Poetry from the University of Arizona in 2007.  This is her first year at City High, but she has been teaching English for over 11 years in various school districts in Tucson.  She was recognized as a Finalist for both the Arizona Teacher of the Year and the UA/Circle K Teacher of the Year Award in 2014, and was a Winner of the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce 40 Under 40 Award in 2013.  She currently serves on the Paulo Freire Downtown Board, the SRI Election Nominating Committee, and the Community Share Educator Action Committee.  She is highly qualified by federal standards and certified by the State of Arizona in Secondary English.

As part of the support network for City High’s Freshmen, she is passionate about providing rigorous instruction in Humanities while building authentic relationships with every student based on trust and a sense of purpose.

Taylor enjoys watching owls and coyotes in her Central Tucson neighborhood, practicing yoga, reading, writing, cooking, raising chickens, and spending quality time with her family, Margot and Ken.  She has called Tucson home since 2002.
