Taylor Johnson earned a Bachelor of Arts in English in 2001 from The George Washington University in Washington, DC, and a Master of Fine Arts in Poetry from the University of Arizona in 2007.  She has been teaching for over 14 years in various school districts in Tucson, but this is her fourth year at City.  She was recognized as a Finalist for both the Arizona Teacher of the Year and the UA/Circle K Teacher of the Year Award in 2014, and was a Winner of the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce 40 Under 40 Award in 2013.  She is highly qualified by federal standards and certified by the State of Arizona in Secondary English.  Taylor is Mom to a tenth grader who recently got her learner’s permit, and together they enjoy the creature company of a goofy Catahoula/Pitt mix named Spike, a cuddly cat named Pax, and a couple of Rhode Island Red chickens who make compost.  Taylor loves to write, dig in the yard, and bake sourdough bread.
