Family and Community Nights

Student Led Conferences- January 6-8, 2021

 

Students have been preparing for their Student-Led Conferences, happening January 6, 7, and 8 the week we return from Winter Break. The Student-Led Conference , a City Hight School tradition, is facilitated by the student’s Advisor and attended by parents, peers, and other teachers. Students discuss their development and mastery of City High School’s Habits of Heart and Mind by presenting evidence in the form of work they have done over the course of the fall semester. They also set and discuss goals as well as discuss their understanding of the social emotional skills we’ve started to focus on this year. This year we are doing things a little bit different. We will be setting up virtual conferences with students and their families.

Parents and GuardiansOnline sign up for Student-Led Conferences is now live! Thirty-minute conference time slots are available Wednesday, January 6th from 1:30-4:30 p.m.;  Thursday, January 7th from 8:30-11:00 a.m. and 4:00-7:30 p.m.,  or Friday, January 8th from 8:30-11:00 a.m.

Click on your student’s Advisor to select a conference at a time that is convenient for your family. You will only schedule ONE conference with your student’s Advisor. Please do not schedule more than one conference, or schedule a conference with another teacher. If you run into problems scheduling a conference online, please email beccad@cityccl.org. Once you have scheduled your time slot, you will receive an confirmation email and calendar invite. With this you will find the Zoom Link to your meeting. We look forward to seeing you virtually at your student’s Student-Led Conference!

The school will operate on special schedules on January 7 & 8 to accommodate the conference schedule:

Resources for Tucson families

Here are  some new community resources that are now available for Tucson families. Please share with other families. These resources will also be available on the Counseling Resource  Website.
1) Rent Assistance Funds (See attached flyer for eligibility info)
  • Catholic Community Services has rent assistance funds they need to spend by the end of the year.  They are able to pay multiple months; however, it is limited to households at 50% or below of median income. See attached flyer for eligibility requirements and contact information. Please share this with friends and neighbors. Funds must be spent by 12/31/2020. For more information call 520-416-4760.
2) Tucson Wifi- The City of Tucson is providing wireless access to members of the community to support remote learning, telework, and access to virtual services. (See attached flyers in Spanish & English)
  • Due to funding limitations, the program only has 5,000 routers available for distribution. The applicant must:
    • live in a coverage area
    • be 18 or older as of October 31, 2020
    • must have experienced financial hardship due directly to COVID
    • You must have a household member who meets one of the following criteria:
      • Is a school age child or enrolled college student who is remote schooling at least 1 day a week and requires internet connectivity
      • Is 60 years of age or older
      • Applications will be processed starting on December 9, 2020.
  • The application period will close on December 21, 2020 and notification of application approval will go out to applicants during the week of December 31, 2020.
  • Internet services will be available until December 31, 2021 to those who qualify and are selected through an application process. This Community Wireless Program is paid for through funds received from the Federal CARES Act Coronavirus Relief Fund.

Thanksgiving Break November 25-27

City High School will be closed Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, November 25-27 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

2021-2022 Open Enrollment and Virtual School Tours

Choosing a high school is a big decision for 8th graders and their families to make. The enrollment deadline is February 1, 2021 for new students for the upcoming school year. Applications for 2021-2022 received on or before February 1, 2021 will be included in our enrollment lottery. Preference is given to students enrolled at one of the CITY Center for Collaborative Learning schools in the prior school year, siblings of students enrolled in one or more of the schools at the time of the enrollment deadline, and children of employees. The application deadline for preferred enrollment is also February 1st. Any applications received after February 1 will be placed on the waiting list and reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis as spots become available.

Prospective students and families are strongly encouraged to attend a City High School Virtual Tour as part of the application process. The tours include a presentation and Q & A session for participants and are a great way to learn more about City High School’s academic program, resources, and staff.

City High School hosts Morning Virtual Tours from 8:30-9:30 a.m. and Evening Virtual Tours from 5:30-6:30 p.m. for prospective students and family members throughout the school year. To sign up for a tour, please contact Office Manager, Becca Dillon, at beccad@cityccl.org.

Hello Everybody,

I have been working on scheduling before/after school classes and clubs.  I am so excited about how many amazing opportunities in learning and socializing our students and parents will have in the upcoming weeks.  Here is a quick list of classes and clubs you can sing up for and start attending:

Tuesday: Total Fitness Playformance 8 – 8:50 AM 

Tuesday: Theater Club 3:15 – 4:45 PM

Wednesday: Mindfulness 1 – 1:30 PM

Wednesday: Art Club 1:30 – 2:30 PM

Thursday: Family Night, Nourishing Connections 4:30 – 5:30 PM.  We would like to welcome all parents/guardians to join us.  

Friday: Student Council 3:00 – 4:00 PM

Please have you students sign up, so we can look for them in the next class.  If you see multiple classes and clubs you would like to attend, come join us, there is no maximum for how many classes you can attend.

Free Breakfast and Lunch Starting Nov 2nd

We are excited to announce that CITYccl will be joining many other school districts in providing meals through the Arizona Department of Educations Summer Food Service Program. What this means for our families and students is that all meals, including breakfast and lunch, will be offered at no cost for the remainder of the school year.

In an effort to streamline our meal services, we have decided to consolidate our efforts and move all of the food distribution to the Downtown campus and close down our PFFS-University distribution site. Starting on Monday, November 2nd, all meal services will be distributed from our downtown site located at 47 E. Pennington St. Tucson, AZ 85701
Pick-up “Grab’n’Go” meal distribution times will be Monday-Friday from 8-10 am. Breakfast and lunch included*.
*Students attending school based services will be served breakfast at 8:15 am and lunch at 12:30 pm, our regularly scheduled times.

City High School Fall Break- Oct 9th-16th

City High School will be on Fall Break starting Friday, October 9th until Friday, October 16th. We will return to school virtually on Monday, October 19th.

Q1 progress reports will be sent home during this break via email. Please request a physical copy sent home through beccad@cityccl.org or your student’s advisor.
