Voices Extended Day Program

City High School supports its extended day program, VOICES, through a 21st Century Community Learning Center grant. Building on our successes from the first 21stCCLC grant in years 2010-2015, the 2018-2019 extended day program includes:

  • Weekly enrichment opportunities free for all students: Mural Arts, Las Milpitas Farm Crew, Game Design, Music Workshop, Film Club, Basketball, Drama Rehearsal and our new Makerspace Open Shop.
  • Academic Support – Homework help and tutoring before and/or after school everyday.
  • Before school Morning Workout Time at the YMCA daily.
  • Leadership opportunities through student-driven clubs like Gender-Sexuality Alliance and the Student Voice Committee.
  • Community Partner workshops throughout the year with University of Arizona Poetry Center, The Body Positive, The Loft Cinema,  Ironwood Tree Experience, and more!
  • Summer School for credit in English and Math in June.
  • Summer Bridge Program for all incoming 9th grade and transfer students in July.
  • Weekly Family Nights on Thursdays for parents and other family members that feature student showcases and performances, college access and trip information, Health & Wellness presentations, to name a few.
  • Free afternoon snacks for all participants in after-school programs.
  • Students can earn days of off-campus lunch privilege with 30 or more days of participation.
  • Here’s a VoicesFallSchedule2019.

The Extended Day experience at City High School is funded primarily by the U.S. Department of Education’s 21st-Century Community Learning Center grant program. City High School received the competitive, 5-year 21st CCLC grant in 2010 & 2015.
