CITY Farm

IMG_1717CITY Farm participants design, plant, cultivate, and harvest the City High School garden plots at the Cottonwood de las Milpitas community garden near downtown Tucson. With the goal of eventually running a small Community Support Agriculture (CSA) program at the school that would provide fresh and locally grown produce to the families of students, the garden is currently regularly feeding 10 families. The garden also serves as an outdoor classroom space.

The fun-filled CITY Farm program has also created a social media campaign designed to promote peer-education around topics of nutrition, food cycle, food justice, and much more!

CITY Farm workshop meets every Friday, from 1 – 4pm.

For the 2013-2014, there is also an Urban Sustainability class on Mondays from 3:15-5:15pm. This group will focus on “greening up” our campus, taking care of the alley, all indoor plants, and the green room, as well as other urban sustainability and gardening projects in and around downtown.

The Farm & Sustainability programs are led by VOICES Instructor Josh Banno and VISTA AmeriCorps Member Efren Martinez.
